Planning for excellence, monitoring to support
effectiveness
Together, Student Achievement Planning and Student Management
Planning delineate clear and measurable goals for academic
achievement and operational improvement, and include action
strategies, time lines for implementation, and benchmarks for
measuring progress. They are the plans that guide the school’s
course for the year ahead.
A suite of tools informs performance progress on an ongoing
basis, including EdisonLearning’s proprietary Benchmark Assessment
System, an electronic grade book, and the Student Learning Contract
(SLC), our student report card.
Each of these resources allows for the necessary and inevitable
course corrections, with detailed school performance dashboards
that are used by the regional field support team, the school’s
administration, and EdisonLearning’s central office to ensure that
any obstacles to success are identified for immediate problem
solving.
Benchmark Assessment System
The uniquely powerful Benchmark Assessment System gives
educators the essential information they need to help every student
succeed. Benchmarks are electronic assessments in reading and
mathematics administered monthly to students starting in Grade 2,
written to meet individual state standards and to reflect the
format and focus of high-stakes state tests.
Transparency in reporting and accountability
EdisonLearning provides regular substantive reports on school
progress throughout the year and at year’s end through
EdisonLearning’s School Report Card and the company’s Annual Report
on Student Achievement. EdisonLearning likewise provides schools
with the tools, capacity, and support necessary to meet the
reporting requirements of the state, the federal government, and
district or chartering authorities.
Operational excellence supports achievement
Operational support modules and a site-based School Operations
Manager, with the support of the Regional Field Support Team and
EdisonLearning’s headquarters team, allow school leaders to keep
their focus on teaching and learning. The range of site services
helps with both school start-up and ongoing operational support.
These services include student enrollment support, technology
support for school information and communication systems,
purchasing and vendor management support, legal support services,
school security evaluations, financial and budget management
support, and human resources support. All are crucial aspects of a
successful school’s operations.
Advantages of local/national partnership
EdisonLearning’s national reach helps public school leaders
benefit from efficiencies of scale and access to rich resources and
expertise. We have the resources to create and deliver training
programs that not only prepare and develop but inspire.
EdisonLearning’s team of educators works hard to ensure that
schools get the most effective support available, whether in the
form of commercially available resources, best instructional
practices, or new programs and resources developed exclusively for
EdisonLearning’s partners.
